This is inspired by Margaret Atwood's The Handmaids Tale Living in a world where child births have declined dramatically really put pressure on the few women that seem to have remained fertile, unlike others I wasn't prepared to know I was one of those few, wasn't even sure how they knew I was in the first place, all I knew was that, I had been taken from my home. I had watched them kill my husband. I watched them take my son. And most definitely I was going after them and I was going to kill them all, now the only think left to do was escape this prison they call 'Home'. Liz like many others was taken away from her family to serve the 'Settlers' an alien race that made a treaty with the governments of the world. This is her story.

From the coasts of the peaceful islands of Ione, a wall of dense smog of the Nation looms from the distance, threatening the island. Queen Ailani had always dreaded the day her island will be mercilessly devoured by the Nation and her people will succumb to the rule of their own leader. But when it was too late, they had already obtained a strong grip around the island and were slowly suffocating it more and more with each passing day. Now she looks at the constitution in front of her with a pen in her hand and a gun pointed at her head. For years she was forced to watch as these foreigners slowly took over her land and her people. Her own people are divided from loyalty to their nation and their Queen or to the illusion of wealth and power of the Nation. Armed with the dangerous combination of greed and impatience, the foreigners staged a coup throughout her island. She stands at a crossroads: sign away her island or her life. This story is inspired by Queen Liliuokalani, the last reigning monarch of Hawaii, who stood against the rising world power of America to protect her sacred lands and beloved people. - Wattpad selected me to be part of a campaign on behalf of Hulu for Margaret Atwood's "The Handmaids Tale". From its sole focus on feminism and women empowerment, I was inspired to create a story from such values. In a time when women are still undermined, the world needs a flood of more literature to spread this. So I'm honored to be part of this opportunity to contribute my writing to the feminist movement.

They meaning your parents, teachers, friends, and etc. have told you from a young age to be yourself, but then say the contradicting statement of being part of the group. To what degree does someone change oneself to follow the norm? In Alarcon's sestina explore how society dictates and does not in ones life and if their is a healthy medium of remaining oneself and being part of a group.

This is a fan-fiction based on the world of "The Handmaids Tale". It is its own story with its own characters and the struggles they face. We follow multiple characters in this story with each character telling their story in their own chapters; Maryanne, Linda, Thomas and Yvonne. I have only written one chapter, told by Maryanne, so far. I will continue to write whenever I have time and inspiration. Let me know if you like it! (English is not my first language so this can make my writing and especially the conversations between characters seem odd and misplaced, so please let me know what I can change to make it better!).

As many of the other enslaved girls, Micha, a Handmaid, is only wanted for her fertility. Ranked above many of the others but also hated and envied for her beauty her life is reduced to who has more power and can have her... In a near-future chaotic world where religion, oppression and pollution rule; Micha will need to make the decision of accepting her life with her new master or gain his trust and escape to a free world. Inspired by The Handmaid's Tale, for #MyHandmaidsTale contest.

Set in 2024, A girl who's spent most of her life taken captive in Gilead, faintly remembers her youth and her real parents from the 'before'. Gilead is a strict society where women have little freedom and are seen mainly for their roles in family and childbirth. Children are highly valued, but mothers are treated mostly as vessels to bring new life. Adeline grows up in this world, first seen as one of Gilead's "gifts from God." But as she gets older, she's prepared for the life of a Handmaid, attending training where she's taught obedience and her role in Gilead.

In a future where women's rights have been eradicated, resistance lives on in a woman strong enough to keep a secret, to pass on her carefully guarded knowledge to others, and to risk her life for the faint hope of freedom in the future...even if that freedom won't be her own.

In Gilead, there are Marthas. Marthas are a class of women unseen. I am a Martha. This is my story.

As an avid film watcher I took it upon myself to be apart of the narrative. Here I'll post analysis' on movies, TV shows, and other pieces of film I have something to say about. I post spoiler warnings and I also take suggestions. There will probably be more than this in the future but for now this is it. Enjoy!

This is my idea of what happens in the next chapter in The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. I may write more, when I know myself what happens next as even I don't know the outcome of my chapter aha. All credit to Atwood for her original characters and locations.
