*NOW UPDATING* A loud voice booms "Stop!" Goosebumps spread across my body begging me to listen to the commanding voice. I turn to look at the captain. I freeze even though I know I need to jump but I can't. As he walks towards me the crowd splits for him and some invisible force keeps me in place. He holds out a gloved hand for me to take. "You know I'm not dumb." I say pausing for a moment then continuing on, " contrary to popular belief. " I say, gesturing to my light colored hair. The boat rocks hard and I almost fall "Listen, no one is going to hurt you." His usually bored demeanor was replaced by panic and urgency. I laugh cruely at his statement remembering my parents last moments. "You cannot be serious?" I ask him, giving him a ' what are you on kind of look '. The captain takes a step closer like he's ready to catch me if I jump. "Dylan, the only one who's gonna drown you is yourself. Think about it, why would I bother saving you out of the lifeboat. Or take that piece of glass out of your stomach if I was just going to drown you?". I think about what he says for a second and his reasoning is pretty solid. Before I could answer him he talk's again. "Do I really look like a worse option than drowning?" I look at him, I mean really look at him. My mother used to be able to tell a person's intentions just by looking at them. Maybe I can somehow acquire that gift. I see no sign of lying or deceit so I decide to take his hand.
