The tenth entry of the 2020-2021 Film Journal is "1917". First, I discuss my highly unique experience of seeing this film which broke my hiatus from movie theaters caused by the pandemic. Then, I take a hard-look at the narratives of war and how this film, perhaps the best picture of this cinematic year, portrays, subverts, and discusses those themes through visual and film storytelling.

The first book of my Genesis Chronicles. Before Claude Frollo became Judge and the most feared man in all of Paris, before his hatred for Gypsies, Frollo was but a young man who just wanted to live with the love of his life. Unfortunately, that never happened. Serena Valentino's villains series inspired me for this work. I do not own anything from this story, but the origin plot.
