For an English class in 2019, we read "Their Eyes Were Watching God" by Zora Neale Hurston, and I really enjoyed it. I think the prompt for this assignment was to make a different creative work reflecting the plot of the book, so I wrote a poem and may have gotten way too into explaining it. I'd recommend reading the book before reading this poem (mostly because it's a classic work of literature), but feel free to dive in without context, too! :)
