July 18th was the day that Flynn Taylor died. Horrific, unexpected and heartbreaking. It took place on a gorgeous afternoon with the sun low and warm. The breeze carried the salt of the ocean, surrounding everyone with happiness and innocence. Of course, the carriage - the seat - that Flynn Taylor had chosen to sit on was faulty. Of course, nobody checked it before he buckled himself in. Of course, it was me who had convinced him to go on the ride. * A horrific event that occurred right in front of seventeen year old Adeline's eyes, made it across all the news headlines, television, newspapers and online. Adeline saw it everywhere and she couldn't get it out of her head. So much that...she started seeing things that weren't real, that she wasn't supposed to be seeing. Communicating with those who are no longer here with us. Not understanding whether she was insane or not, Adeline grows a sudden strong attachment towards someone only she could see, only she can talk to. When Adeline's life splits in two, she needs to make a choice on whether she wants to keep her mortal life, or to move on and finally belong with the person she loves.

The wide seas that's my life is recorded with these traces of inks; every emotion, every experience, every thought that mapped my life. They were once the words that I could never utter but now become the words that shaped my life. This is the ongoing map I draw about my life: every bitter and illuminating moments. The moments pass us by; time flows without restrain, never waiting for us. Before we know, moments in our life fly by. But we always have those moments locked in our minds, moments that we learn to forget, cherish, love, hate and grasp tightly on. Sometimes they remain in our minds like a photo album of the moments that we look back to remember what a life we have. But just how many of these moments, so filled with emotions that change us? Or define who we are? This is a story collection with my own thoughts about the various moments in our lives, the various emotions we feel when we are faced with a situation we must deal with. This is a story collection that I hope to convey the various human experiences that would describe who we really are. A Poetic series. . With Every passing breath, I sink even deeper into a pool of my own darkness. . *Whispers* "Not your usual poetry"

I never really thought of myself as depressed. Hell, my family certainly didn't talk about mental health. But even as a child, I've just always felt different, like there was a separation between me and the world. Imagine being an observer of your own life, watching yourself never quite fit in. And over the years, it just got worse. I felt things too deeply, over-analyzed every thought, tried to be everything everyone else wanted. And then, I cracked. I broke, shattering into a million pieces. And no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to put myself back together again. Whether my relief is through therapy or art, I can't seem to escape those thoughts. Thoughts so dark that I paint sadness just to release them. Seeing the world through blue has become my reality. And I pray that once everything is unburdened, a happier me will be set free.

the island of st barths, cradled by the north end of the gulf of the carribean, is a pretty place. on first glance the people who lived there were pretty too - their lips seemed to bulge just as the fruit did, and their eyes caught the sun as did the sea. they were humble, some intellectual, some young, most old. there was a girl called Elodie on this island. Elodie Chantraine. to look at, simply beautiful. it was a pity one couldn't crack open her skull and look inside. perhaps it would have revealed a different story. this story is not one of romance. it is one of Elodie. this story is the exposé of Elodie Chantraine. a sort of coming of age, where no coming of age occurs. a tale of a girl who's beauty has failed her conscience, which has neglected its righteous maturation and left it rotting. to highlight some of her flaws - she is of a girl who is self absorbed, greedy, manipulative, privileged, ungracious, ungrateful, but to the world - perfect. a child who plays with maturity as if it is a toy employed for her will. an intellectual who understands nothing. a story of an antagonist thrust into the role of protagonist. don't let her seduce you. be warned, she's very good at it. oh! just so carelessly good. perhaps if you see past her glistening and sickly beauty and charm, she'll even then able to seduce you with her flaws, and you'll relish in all the terrible in her, terribleness you might remember in yourself, that might sidle and lurk in the moist corners of your heart. • #theLitAwards2019
