The surface was something that has always fascinated you, it had been your dream to walk alongside humans and discover new places that the sea couldn't provide. One night you came across a ship that was celebrating the young princes birthday. All things quickly went to pot when a vicious storm contributed to destroying the ship, leaving the poor prince unconscious. After saving his life you make it your duty to see him again and hopefully walk alongside him forever.
