The inspiration has come from the CDrama "The Long Ballad" from two episodes that seem to slightly contradict each other: Firstly, when Hao Du tossed Le Yan onto the horse when they were left behind in the town of Yu and Le Yan seemed to have panicked and she held on to Hao Du. When Hao Du urged the horse forward into a canter, Le Yan squealed in fear. Then in another episode when Hao Du's foster father Du Ruhui was at the monastery getting medical help but then the monastery was attacked. When Hao Du and Le Yan heard of the attack, Le Yan jumped on the back of a horse like a pro, and galloped off to the monastery. This inconsistency made me want to write something between Le Yan and Hao Du that revealed Le Yan's hidden strength of character and hidden past. People always thought of her a wilting little flower and not a strong, clever, resourceful woman. I would like to say that this narrative was crafted with the sole intention of exploring a fictional extension of the characters Hao Du and Le Yan from "The Long Ballad." It is not meant to cause appropriation or disrespect towards the original work, its creators, or any cultural elements depicted therein. The story aims to delve into a hypothetical scenario inspired by the characters' dynamics, intending to contribute a creative perspective while acknowledging the source material's cultural context and integrity. The story takes place in ancient China. Li Changge's family was murdered by Li Shimin, the Emperor of Tang, during the Xuanwu Gate Incident. She goes to Shuo Province under the guise of a man hoping to found an army to murder Li Shimin to avenge her family's death.
