Ilya is retiring after a twenty-year career, and the two are playing their last Division Final game against each other. or What if the FanMail video leak hadn't happened? What if Shane and Ilya had gone ahead with their plan to get married, but instead of revealing their relationship, they kept it private until they retired? People would have thought they were just close friends who loved to hang out together. That Yuna and David Hollander just treated Ilya as their son as well. --- I got the inspiration to write this after seeing Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin's final face-off in what could be their last game on the ice. It made me think about what Ilya and Shane might be like if they choose to keep their relationship private and retire on their own terms.
