mike wheeler and richie tozier are the same people. richie has to move to hawkins because his parents got arrested for abuse back in derry. a woman named karen and a man named ted volunteered to adopt the boy while spending their time in derry, on the hunt for anything along the lines of the 'upside down.' they bring richie home and he, unwillingly, starts a new life in hawkins. the losers don't know where he is, but decide to take a vacation to hawkins after finding six tickets on the streets.
