The China National Space Administration agreed to sacrifice their Taiyang Shen probe and booster in order to send the astronauts the supplies they needed. In exchange, a Chinese astronaut would be given a seat on Ares 5, the last scheduled Ares mission to Mars. This is the story of that mission and the consequences of that collaboration undertaken to save Mark Watney's life.
