"Raph, watch my son and make sure he doesn't do anything stupid." A smirk similar to my own began forming on his face as I rolled my eyes. "You got it," Raph nudged me with his elbow. "Your father is just messing with you, Will." My mother tussled my hair as I pulled away. "You'll do great." I had been raised in the New York Institute since I was six, when my father became the head. I knew every secret the centuries-old building held. I also knew the real reason behind me running the Institute for a couple of months. My parents wanted to see if I was ready for this type of responsibility. For the first couple of weeks, everything went well. Fighting demons, making sure a Downworlder wasn't preying on a mundane. But after finding two vampires' bodies, I received a call from the leader of the Datura Clan. A clan that hated my kind, but this wasn't just any call. It was a call for help.

I look at his features; he has tattoos, gorgeous blue eyes and high cheek bones. “What is a mundane?” I ask him. “A human.” He says, emotionless. “You don’t know much about the other world Tris.” “If I’m not a human, then what am I?” I ask. “You wouldn’t believe me if I told you,” He says, his piercing blue eyes staring at me. Then, I found out about a new world that my parents kept from me. Trying to protect me, always trying to erase the signs. “You’re the key to our survival,” He whispers.
