Dear readers, Charlie's life is beautifully parallel to mine. I write letters throughout my freshman year about finding myself, making new friends, and being a wallflower. These letters are about actual events that take place in my 9th grade year but names have been changed to protect the guilty ;) All of the poetry is original and written by me as well. Dear brother, I really wished I could tell you something that would make you smile, no matter where you are right now, but I can't. I wished what I'm about to tell you was a love story, but I guess you were right every time you told me that love didn't exist. You know I always thought that it didn't apply to me. That I was the exception and that there was a great love story out there just waiting for me, but I guess I was wrong. So what I'm about to tell you is no fairytale love story that you see on the big screen, it's just your naïve little brother thinking that what he has is love, when in reality I am just a puppet on a string, willing to do anything just to see her smile. Willing to let her walk over me just for the moments she made me feel like I was flying. And I really thought I was doing all that, because I was in love. But you were right, brother. It's a very funny subject, and a topic. It's always confusing to think why we love. Of course, there's the theoretical answer, which is you love because there is something triggered which equals to a chemical reaction when you feel 'attracted' to someone. But something MORE than that has to be. Only something more than a mere chemical reaction is capable of letting you feel all drops and sorts of emotions. That... Is love. I can't identify why, but I can be sure what love is. It's very confusing, indefinite and infinite among humanity. Undescribable, yet at the same time, very, very precious. Love Always, Mae.
