Dorian Gray sees the world around him age and change while he remained forever the same

Basil, a man dedicated to art, which seemed to have lost sense for him, and Dorian, an innocent-looking boy, possessor of great beauty. Dorian Gray knew precisely where this comment he was not supposed to hear was directed. He could, after all, feel the eyes upon him with the same sense as if the speaker had chosen to reach out and touch him. Ordinarily this would leave him altogether unbothered, if not even a little flattered that discussions about him took place without him having to even be involved. Normally he was quite content to place the part of the vacuous, lovely little thing that was kept about for the same charm as a caged songbird might be, going so far as to accommodate for this impression.

Oscar Wilde went to jail in 1895 for engaging in romantic relationships with another man. His literary pieces of work are also limited due to the lack of freedom of speech during the 19th century, widespread homphobia and lack of audience. 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' is a clear example of Oscar Wilde being limited because of societal pressures. Us being in the 21st century, we can easily pick up on the subtle hints of homosexuality in this book. However, it could not be fully explored. This book, 'The Ethereal Beauty of Dorian Gray' is a queer twist to the original story. My story is not authentic and some characters may seem different compared to the original text. If you are triggered by homosexuality, I highly recommend not to read this book.
