The story of a teenage girl being blamed for the disappearance of her best friend and she later learns that she, along with her entire family and her other best friend and his family all have magical powers.

Two years after the events of Home Alone 2, the McCallister's are on yet another vacation to Ohio. Now twelve-year-old Kevin is starting to feel like his parents will never love him the way they love his older brother Buzz. He knows that they try to love him but it's hard to believe that they actually do. His older sister Megan has tried for years to pretend that he's to her what everyone else thinks--the helpless younger brother with the big temper. When a prank that gets Kevin in trouble gets out of hand, the two decide to run away. They meet sweet farmboy Adrian who lets them stay in his parent's apartment. When they find out that someone actually did care about them, they almost decide to go back to Leslie's and apologize when they meet two bandits hired by Harry and Marv to kill Kevin. In this short novel, secrets are revealed and friendships, as well as romance, are formed.
