I looked up at Miles, clutching my pendant and praying that it wouldn't act up again. "You should stay away from me," I said, an edge to my voice as I took a step back from him. He gave me his priceless, lopsided grin. "Why?" he asked, taking a step forward. I took one more back, trying to keep space between us. "I'm dangerous," I choked out after a few seconds of staring into his eyes. "You've seen my eye, you should know." My voice wavered slightly, the pendant felt heavy in my hand. "So just stay away from me." He took another step forward and I matched it with one back. "What if I told you I like danger?" he asked. I narrowed my eyes. "Then I would say you don't know what you're dealing with." My back hit the wall and as he stalked forward. I was trapped. He licked his lips. "And if I said I was really into mystery, too?" He was right in front of me now, hands placed on the wall and his lips brushing over my ear as he whispered to me. I flinched as he ran his tongue over my ear. "I w-w-would say y-you're r-really stupid," I whispered. He bit the top of my ear and tugged lightly. "Maybe I'm fine with that." And his lips crashed into mine, melting the rest of the wall I had worked so hard to build around myself.
