Everyone at school knows Andrew Jennings. Missing an arm. Openly gay. But when he meets star athlete Ryan Sullivan in therapy, can friendship lead to more? ***** When Andrew 'Jacky' Jennings ends up in therapy after an English assignment gone wrong, he doesn't expect to find his high school's star athlete, Ryan Sullivan, sitting in the same waiting room. After all, he and Ryan couldn't be more different: football captain, future valedictorian, and all-around nice guy, Ryan is the school's golden boy, while Andrew is known for his permanent snarl, being openly gay, and losing his left arm (along with his father and sister) in a car accident. But when Andrew learns they actually have a lot in common, he's surprised to see past the enigma that is Ryan Sullivan and his seemingly perfect life. And as the two boys begin to connect over their shared grief, depression, and teenage angst, they might just discover a little pocket of happiness for themselves -- if they're willing to fight for it. ⚠️ WARNING: Highly relatable content ahead. ⚠️ We have all written some truly terrible poetry atleast once in our life. I have written too many of them. An Ode to Bad Poetry is a collection of awkward metaphors, forced rhymes, and chaotic late-night thoughts usually hidden deep in the notes app. It is the song you fixed with poor vocabulary, the conversation about heartbreaks and moving on you had with your friend and the existential crisis that visits you every Tuesday. It is the place where I expressed my most vulnerable thoughts instead of going to therapy and everyday delusions of a non-existent love life. Think of this book as a chaotic group chat with your best friend who isn't afraid to say the absolute wrong thing. Because honestly? Sometimes "bad" poetry is the most real art there is.

They told her she was unstable. Too quiet. Too paranoid. Too difficult to understand. So Manyata stopped arguing. She stopped talking. And when even silence started feeling like a mistake... she walked into his clinic. Dr. Michael Jackson didn't look like someone who fixed broken people. He looked like someone who studied them until they stopped being people at all. He said he was a forensic psychologist. He said she was safe here. But the way he watched her-like he already knew how she would break next-made her question something far more dangerous than her sanity. What if she wasn't here to be healed? What if she was here to be understood... a little too well? And what if the only person who finally made her feel "normal" was the same man who made normal feel like a lie?

Nothing is particularly wrong with Liz's life. She has a stable job, a comfortable apartment, and a routine that works. Every morning she wakes up, goes to work, finishes what needs to be done, and comes home to do it all again the next day. From the outside, she seems fine. But sometimes, on quiet nights, Liz finds herself staring at old photographs and wondering about a stranger she used to know. A girl who laughed too loudly. A girl who cried without shame. A girl who believed that if she loved deeply enough, life would eventually work itself out. Liz can barely recognize her anymore. Two years after a relationship that changed her in ways she still doesn't fully understand, she finds herself sitting across from a psychologist, trying to answer a question she never expected to ask: What happened to the person I used to be? What begins as an attempt to understand her emotional numbness slowly turns into something far more difficult. As old memories resurface and long-buried wounds begin to reveal themselves, Liz is forced to confront a possibility she has spent years avoiding. Maybe the thing she's grieving isn't the woman she lost. Maybe she's grieving the girl who slowly disappeared while trying to survive everything that came after. Because sometimes the greatest loss is not losing someone. Sometimes, it is losing yourself. And learning to live with the fact that you miss who you used to be.

Daniel Merrell was just about the most competent man you'd ever meet. He was sharp, strategic, and always on top of everything. He worked efficiently and knew exactly what to say and do to complete a project ahead of its deadline. He counted everything-steps, coffee cups, and even the number of times he said "strategic alignment" in meetings (well, actually, Mallory does that for him. She's been keeping a tally: forty-seven and counting, apparently). But he was terrified of everything. Mondays, coffee machines that judge him, elevators with other people in them, the very idea of anyone knowing he exists... even office succulents on the brink of death that definitely have opinions about his life choices. (Don't ask him how he knows that. He just does.) But most of all, he's terrified of Ava Thomas. Not because she's intimidating. Because she's kind. She sees through his corporate jargon and anxiety, yet she still smiles at him across the office. She greets him in the mornings and engages in small talk, simply because she doesn't want the new guy to feel lonely. She even offers to help him out, despite him giving her no reason to do so. He had never met anyone quite like her before. And now... he's doomed. Now, he has to decide: stay safe and alone, or do the terrifying work of becoming someone not only worthy of a second chance at love after facing devastating heartbreak, but someone actually capable of receiving it. This is a story about anxiety, growth, and learning that being brave isn't the absence of fear. It's choosing love anyway.

***Warning! This story contains mature themes where characters experience suicidal thoughts, and often have deep thoughts. Viewer discretion advised.*** Julianus Hale is a man whose life seems to be collapsing all at once. Struggling with workplace issues, loneliness, and the emotional aftermath of a painful breakup, he slowly begins losing the motivation to keep fighting for a future he no longer believes in. Refusing treatment and pushing everyone away, Julianus isolates himself from both his family and the world around him. After receiving a final warning at work due to his worsening temper and emotional instability, he reluctantly begins therapy, not because he believes it will help, but because he wants somewhere to speak without judgment. There, he meets, Julissa Laurent, a calm and compassionate therapist who sees through his anger and recognizes the exhaustion beneath it. Their sessions begin awkwardly, filled with silence, sarcasm, and emotional distance, but over time, Julianus finds himself slowly opening up in ways he never expected. As the weeks pass, the two develop a quiet but undeniable connection. Julissa becomes the first person in a long time who truly listens to him without pity, while Julianus slowly realizes he looks forward to seeing her more than he should. Yet beneath their growing attachment lies an unspoken tension: the line between patient and therapist cannot be crossed. At its heart, When Breathing Hurts is not just a romance, but a deeply emotional story about loneliness, healing, and learning how to keep living when life feels unbearably heavy. It explores the idea that sometimes people do not need to be "saved", they simply need someone who makes them feel seen. *** "I just don't think anyone would notice if I disappeared." I blurted out honestly, turning my gaze to Julissa, expecting to be laughed at, like I always have been. But her next words made me stiffen. "I would."

Hana doesn't speak much. She just reads. Every Thursday, she sits in the corner of Alif Corner behind her niqab, a hazel notebook in her hands and eyes that have carried more silence than words. Rayyan owns Alif Corner. He doesn't speak much either. He just notices. The way she sits in the same spot. The way she holds a book like it's the only thing keeping her steady that day. So he starts leaving notes in the books he sets aside for her. He never signs them. He never approaches her. Hana doesn't know who writes them. But she keeps every single one, folded carefully like a treasure, Because after a betrayal that left her heart guarded and her name spoken in whispers, these small, unsigned words are the only things that make her feel seen again. Rayyan doesn't know she keeps them. He doesn't know she rereads them on the nights her own home feels heavy. He only knows that her calm deserves to be protected, not disturbed. What begins as silence slowly becomes something else. A connection built in glances, in shared books, in prayers whispered at 2 AM. It's not fast. It's not loud. But it's real. This is a story about a love that never needed to be spoken. About patience that outlasts doubt. About two people brought together by qadr, when neither of them was looking. But some promises aren't meant to last a lifetime in this dunya. Some are meant to leave a legacy that does. It begins with a note left on a shelf. It ends with a heart that learned to trust again - even after goodbye. ••••••• " Threads of Qadr In Love " is a story about healing in quiet places, about faith that holds you when you can't hold yourself, and about love that doesn't need to be spoken to be felt. #1 in niqabi - 14.05.2026 #1 in bookshop - 01.06.2026
