Jack is faced with a difficult decision, but when it comes to his boys, there is only.one option. He is willing to do whatever it takes to keep his family safe, no matter the personal cost. Jack doesn't have many fears, and even though he knows that he is going to have to face the immense pain of his greatest fear, he know he has to do it. The world has turned it's back on him since he was a kid, his father turned his back on him a few years ago, but will Jack be able to survive when it seems that the newsies are turning their backs to him as well? Will they ever understand? Will jack ever escape alive? To Jack the answers don't matter, as long as his brothers are all safe.

When something unexpected happens during the newsboy strike, will Jack and the other newsies be able to fix the situation? How will they react when they find out that helping some of their brothers is going to be harder than they thought? And will Jack and David be able to help when they hit bumps in the road? A quick note: I started this (3/7/18) when i was a sophomore in high school, so my writing isn't at all up to par. Constructive criticism is appreciated! Johnathan McCann has been in the Refuge ever since he can remember. The kids there have dubbed him "Letters" because he's the one that delivers the kids' letters either by mouth or in print. But what the kids don't know is that Johnathan actually works for Snyder the Spider, giving him information about escape plans and attempted grabs at more food and clothes, getting beaten when there's no new information. None of the kids know about what their "Letters" actually does, and Johnathan almost feels bad for misleading them. Almost. But all that Johnathan knows and believes in is shaken when a crip who is close with the fantasized about Sullivan - or Jack Kelly as most know him as - is thrown into the Refuge, and seems to trust "Letters" with information about him. What will happen when Johnathan starts becoming more and more fond of the cripple who is best friends with his #1 enemy?

We all know Crutchie was sent to The Refuge. This is the story of what happened there, written through letters. Trigger Warnings: young character death, abuse, imprisonment, referenced suicide, thoughts of suicide, neglect, mild cursing. I will post specific chapter warnings, the first one is clean but the rest of them not so much.
