With a sudden earthquake disrupting her homeland, 16 year old (Y/N) is sent to Liverpool, England after her parents' tragic deaths. Known to have a cold heart, she is taken in by her mother's deceased childhood friend's family, where the Mistress of the house had passed away. With the Master constantly leaving the manor, his son- who has almost never to be seen- left in charge. The garden belonging to the Mistress has been locked away under her husband's command, never to be revealed again. But that doesn't stop (Y/N) from becoming curious about the mysterious death of the Mistress, and her hidden garden. After sneaking past the ivy covered walls locking the overgrown garden from view, the young maiden soon encounters multiple men, who do not only seek to find out about the Mistress's death, but also why this woman resembles her. ...And her cold, golden heart. This was inspired by the movie, 'The Secret Garden', Although I have quite a few twists to the story to make it match the people included.

When orphaned Mary Lennox comes to live at her uncle's great house on the Yorkshire Moors, she finds it full of mysterious secrets. There are nearly one hundred rooms, most of which are locked, and the house is filled with creepy old portraits and suits or armor. Mary rarely sees her uncle, and perhaps most unsettling of all is that at night she hears the sound of someone crying down one of the long corridors. The gardens surrounding the odd property are Mary's escape and she explores ever inch of them-all except for the mysterious walled-in, locked garden. Then one day, Mary discovers a key. Could it open the door to the garden?

When Stella and her younger brother, Tom, move to their new London home, they become mystified by the disappearances of Harry, their elderly neighbour's small dog. Where does he go? And why does he keep reappearing wet-through? Their quest to solve the riddle over the summer holidays leads to a boat buried under a grassy mound - and a tunnel that takes them to a secret lake. Soon they discover that they have travelled back in time to their home and the children living there 100 years earlier. After a broken family had finally found back together and started to heal, it was clear that the children Mary Lennox and Colin Craven needed a teacher. After all, they were nobles, and as social norms would want it, they needed to get a proper education. And it arrived in the form of the young teacher Miss Baileys. This story revolves around the characters Archibald Craven and his family from Frances Hodgson Burnett's "The Secret Garden" (especially the 1993 movie) I do not own any characters, except Aurora Baileys! I am aware of the issues this story has (yes, I am talking about the racism/white supremacism in the book) and I will try and address and resolve these issues in a way that feels natural the story (bc guess what, it is a fanfiction and I can do whatever I like with it). Lastly, fyi, English is not my first language but I study English, so writing this story also kind of functions as English practice for me.

'We're alike, you and me,' old Ben Weatherstaff said to Mary. 'We're not pretty to look at and we're both very disagreeable.' Poor Mary! Nobody wants her, nobody likes her. Her parents have died, and she is sent home from India to live in her uncle's house in Yorkshire. It is a big old house, with nearly a hundred rooms, but most of them are shut and locked. Mary is cross and bored, and lonely. There is nothing to do all day, and no one to talk to, except old Ben Weatherstaff, the gardener. But then Mary learns about the secret garden. The door is locked and hidden, and the key is lost. No one has been inside the secret garden for ten years - except the robin, who flies over the wall. Mary watches the robin, and wonders where the key is.. . And then there is that strange crying in the night, somewhere in the house. It sounds like a child crying...

It's been five years since Mary moved into Misselthwaite Manor and she finds herself become more in touch with her emotions, though she still doesn't understand romance and love. She spends her days with her cousin Colin and her friend Dickon, but soon finds their attachments to her have become more serious. Mary now finds herself at a crossroads, who will she choose?
