Cut off from civilization for months, Tyler hopes to battle alcoholism and his temper while writing a volume of poetry. Evil forces residing in The Green Lion - which has a long and violent history - covet Josh for his precognitive powers and exploit Tyler's weaknesses to try to claim them both. This fic is based off The Shining, mainly the book, though there will be elements of the movie in it. No knowledge of either is required.

𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄; THIS WAS LITERALLY MY FIRST STORY AND ITS SO CRINGE I HATE IT!!!!!!! I wrote this at 14 - this is a bad first impression for new comers, but welcome!! - The Overlook Hotel was now closing for the winter and a family of three were now going to maintain the residence! Lucky you, the simple cleaner, are invited to stay with the family. You get even more lucky when a certain husband gets an eye for you. [ Yandere! Jack Torrence x Nanny! Jack Torrance gets a job to look after the Overlook hotel for a few months, and brings along his wife, Wendy, and young son, Danny. But not everything is as it seems. In another dimension, a family nearly identical to them had gotten a chance like this as well. The mother of the family, Jackie Torrance, got a job to look over a hotel for winter, and brings her husband, Wendell, and daughter, Dana. Apart from being haunted, the hotel is also a portal between the two dimensions. As time goes on, the families notice their reflections are not theirs every now and then. The story will mostly follow the plot of the movie (not mine), but the twists will come halfway through.

In an alternate reality where Jack Torrance, the troubled protagonist of Stephen King's "The Shining," survives the harrowing events at the Overlook Hotel, a new chapter of terror and redemption unfolds. Haunted by the ghosts of his past and the malevolent forces that once possessed him, Jack struggles to reclaim his sanity and rebuild his fractured family. But the horrors of the Overlook refuse to stay buried, manifesting in terrifying visions and unsettling encounters that threaten to unravel Jack's fragile grip on reality. As Jack wrestles with his inner demons, his wife Wendy and son Danny strive to support him while facing their own traumas. Together, they embark on a journey of self-discovery and redemption, confronting the darkness that lurks within and beyond the confines of the haunted hotel. But the malevolent forces that once tormented Jack are not so easily vanquished. As the line between nightmare and reality blurs, Jack must confront his darkest fears and make a final stand against the spectral entities that seek to consume him once more. "The Shining: A New Dawn" is a chilling tale of survival, redemption, and the enduring power of love in the face of unspeakable evil. Fans of Stephen King's iconic novel will be captivated by this thrilling continuation of the Torrance family's saga, where the shadows of the past loom large and the horrors of the Overlook Hotel refuse to rest in peace.

In the summer of 1928, the Overlook Hotel stands alone in the Colorado mountains-remote, immaculate, and deliberately unreachable. Open only a few months each year, the hotel has already earned a reputation among a certain class of guest: those wealthy enough, powerful enough, or famous enough to disappear for a while. As Independence Day approaches, a carefully curated group arrives for a private week-long celebration. Hollywood royalty fleeing the glare of studio scrutiny. Political figures eager to speak freely without consequence. Financiers, fixers, and discreet intermediaries whose fortunes depend on what is not recorded. They come by invitation, following rumors rather than advertisements-rumors of perfect discretion, unspoken indulgence, and a place where rules quietly dissolve. The Overlook promises what no city can in 1928: privacy. Prohibition does not apply here. Gambling exists behind closed doors. Affairs begin without witnesses. Deals are made without paper. And beneath the glamour of tuxedos, flapper dresses, champagne, and fireworks, something older and less easily named seems to watch from the long corridors and high timbered ceilings. Over the course of several days leading up to the Fourth of July, the guests indulge, negotiate, betray, and unravel-some discovering that the isolation they sought has sharpened their desires, while others find the mountain air brings buried impulses to the surface. The hotel does not judge. It does not intervene. It merely remembers. July 4th at the Overlook is a story about power, secrecy, temptation, and the thin veneer of civility that separates celebration from collapse. It explores how places-like people-can develop reputations, and how the promise of absolute freedom can be more dangerous than any explicit threat.
