After his tragic end, Patroclus awakens on Mount Olympus. Standing before him is Apollo, who reveals the outcome of a divine council: Patroclus has been chosen to become the god of peace, the one destined to bring harmony between mortals and immortals. Patroclus is stunned, but in truth, he can barely grasp the god's words. Since opening his eyes, his thoughts have been consumed by one thing only: Achilles. Where is he? Is he suffering? Will they ever meet again? What will happen in this story? Will Patroclus accept his new fate? And most of all... what destiny awaits Achilles and Patroclus? Well, you'll find out by reading. --- Author's Note This story is written by me, Liz, and it's the official English translation of my original fanfiction in Italian: "Neanche la morte è riuscita a separarci." The original version is available in Italian, and this translation was made with care to preserve the emotions, style, and meaning of the original work. Please forgive any grammar mistakes. English is not my first language, and I'm still learning. I did my best to translate this story.

"You'll go somewhere else in September," she said. This meant, You will not finish your freshman year. It was April. I nodded, mutely, and that was the end of it. (In which there are girls' boarding schools, Achilles' truest flaw is wrath, and Greek tragedies are not allowed to be anything but.) (Basically, the Iliad, but what if everyone was a girl, and also, it's modern times, and also also, it's set at a girls' boarding school?) (Crossposted from AO3)

Patroclus just wanted to survive college. Achilles made it complicated. From accidental touches in class to waffles at his house, from awkward confessions to very intentional kisses, they somehow go from "just hanging out" to completely, hopelessly tangled in each other.

Between the struggles of just being a regular teen, imagine having to fit in being the child of a God. No freedom of love nor friends is left to you, for your fate is set in stone since the beginning of time. Not just that, gods aren't known to be the greatest parents out there. Will the yearning of freedom liberate these children or will they crumble at the pressure.

Unable to resist, I lean over and delicately place a whisper of a kiss on his lips. He smiles and pulls me to him again before forcing me upright so he can shower me in a barrage of tender, featherlight kisses on my face. We laugh and I once again admire him. His laugh rings out and his eyes close and crinkle at the corners where the evidence of past joy sits. He laughs like someone who has known the pain of not being able to smile. _____ Just a short fic about Achilles and Patroclus in Elysium. It's literally pure fluff. I'm giving them the happy(ish) ending that they never got. This fic is inspired by the song Fields of Gold by Sting because it reminds me of them so much it's insane. Cover art is not mine! I don't know the artist so message me (in comments or on my message board) if you know or are the artist. Lmk who I should credit or if I should just remove it! Thx for understanding!

writing this epilogue helped me stop crying and ease the pain in my chest. i needed to hear more of the reuniting of our beautiful boys, so i wrote this to give myself a glimpse of their eternal paradise and to let my mind rest. this is a very hurried draft and also my first publishing on wattpad, and i'm not sure how all this works - but suggestions and edits are more than welcome, if those are things you can do on here! i sure hope so! i love you all dearly. hopefully one day we will recover from our wonderful madeline ripping our hearts from our chests in the most beautiful way imaginable. "He was half of my soul, as the poets say." This is a work of added scenes to Madeline Miller's novel, The Song of Achilles. I wrote these after reading the novel, creating little moments I felt fitting in the real book. I hope you enjoy reading these figment of my imaginations as much as I enjoyed creating them.
