layne (pronounced lay-nee) routledge travels to outer banks in search of her older brother, john b. when she arrives, she meets the pouges who warn her about sarah cameron's brother, rafe, who is supposedly a "psychopath." but layne quickly befriends him and learns he may not be so bad after all, and she may even be catching some feelings for this bad boy, who seems to have a soft spot for her. were the pouges right about rafe? or will he change for layne?
