"All in Vain" is centered around Diana Gilbert who has always been the complete opposite to her sister, Elena. Elena was more interested in reading, drawing, making friends, and having slumber parties, as any regular pre-teen would be. Diana, on the other hand, was quieter, and to herself. She was adopted at the age of 2 by Miranda and Jon. Her biological mom was friends with them during high school. They took her in as their own. At 11, she started getting into trouble; getting suspended, trying alcohol, and other various drugs. She hung out with the wrong crowd. While Elena spent her first few years of being a teenager hanging out with her friends, their mother had sent Diana away to spend her early years in Washington, D.C., bettering her behavior. After spending almost four years in D.C , going through heartaches, experiencing the highs and lows of life, Diana decided to come back to Mystic Falls. When she came back home, she realized things don't always stay the same. Her sister has a boyfriend whose brother is trouble, her little brother is a druggie and started hanging out with the same wrong crowd she did, her parents are dead, she's dead, and many more are dying.
