Havana Soveaire... The girl was a lot of things, but a quitter was not one of them.

Taryn Nyte has always walked the streets without a worry, and she has always slept through the worst of nightmares - until now. Kidnapped in the City of Melbourne by demons she never thought to be real, Taryn meets an aloof young bounty hunter by the name of Kael who begrudgingly offers to help when more demons come crawling. But when she and Kael are bound by a force more powerful than any of the creatures hunting her, Taryn will be dragged into a world that has co-existed with her own since the beginning of time, where those she is told to trust cannot be trusted at all and where even a normal face can hide a demonic past. With demons, Immortals and everything in between on the hunt for Taryn, this world, it seems, has been waiting for her. If only she knew why. What will life be like? I mean, Dad used to tell me all about the side that is always dark. I need to leave. I don't care what my mother will say, I'm doing this for my father. He's dead so he can't come with me, but I'll go for him. If I get shot for leaving, so be it. The punishment is death to leave. So many people hate seeing brightness all the time. This includes me. The people who've climbed the mountain that separates the light from the dark, have all died, except for one, and they did get shot. My name is Allie Shine, and I live on the side that always shines bright.

It is a poem with a dark theme written in blank verse. It reflects the neglect of the society. Feel free to comment on it and like it. Humanity. It goes beyond the common definition of: "a collective group of humans". It's a sense of benevolence. One may act; 'for the sake of humanity' and there are; 'crimes against humanity'. We're supposed to be proud of the human race, yet... humans are self-destructive. A group of elite alien race came to Earth and proved once and for all that we were our own worst enemy. They weren't wrong. but it was too late. They managed to save Earth- eradicating pollution and reversing global warming but they killed anyone who got in their way and indoctrinated the rest. Those who remained revolted. World War III resulted- killing the planet. The War ended but the battle was not won. The fight continues on, despite the destroyed society and Earth we call home. It's a relentless fight between those who want the world to go back to the way it was and those who still fight to hold on to their humanity- no matter what. We self-destruct but we also fight for what's right. It's a delicate balance- it's an art form.
