Or will their efforts ultimately be in vain?

Aida (Ah-Ee-da) was born in Ethiopia on the 1st of October 1989. At age five, she was taken in by Sir Reginald Hargreeves and became number eight; living with, training with, and growing with The Umbrella Academy for 12 years. Her body automatically heals, but since age 17 has been resistant to heal others. After escaping the academy, Aida lived a turbulent life, never staying in one place or in one relationship for too long. Often taking thrill seeking and clumsiness to the extreme, and ending up dead for months to years before her ability brings the young woman back to life. (hence the unflattering nickname). When Reginald dies, she finally returns to her childhood home, and memories which she has tried to suppress resurface, along with relationships she's kept at multiple arms length. Meanwhile, a long lost friend returns with news the world is soon to be in ruins and apparently the seemingly emotionless yet perpetually anxious Eight is supposed to help stop it.

Fears are what nightmares are made of. Malia's biggest fears? Abandonment, being alone, and losing her loved ones. She went through it once already, she doesn't think she'd survive if it happened again. Malia was born of an unusual birth but her parents thought of her as a miracle... at least, at first. As she grew older, strange things began to happen and her parents thought maybe she wasn't their little miracle after all. As Malia grows she tries to understand certain feelings no child should ever have to experience: neglect, abandonment, and fear. It isn't until she meets a particularly eccentric, yet cold, man that she begins to grasp the concept of the true meaning of family. He was the string - the rest of them were, well... no family was perfect. They all went their separate ways but at least she knew where they all were and because of that, she never truly felt alone.
