The first book from the Legends of the past series written by JD Macrae. Follow the journey of the Witness and companions as an unexpected visitor leads them on a treacherous journey to discover an ancient treasure lost for centuries. Around every corner there are more questions that need answering. The book is written in two separate time periods two weeks apart, odd numbered chapters are set in the present and even numbered chapters are set in the past. *Arcbound Vow - The Reckoning of Control* is the third installment in the series, inverting the dynamic of the previous conflict. After recovering from the psychological warfare of the Witch Queen, Azaroth (Warlock of Control) is targeted directly by the Witness. He is ambushed by a focused psychic blast from a Pyramid gateway, leaving his physical body catatonic while his consciousness is imprisoned in the Witness's Void-a realm of Perfect Logic. The Witness tortures Azaroth by showing him a flawless, ordered universe, convincing the Warlock that the Arcbound Vow and Aries' chaos are the root of all his professional and personal failures. Meanwhile, Aries (Hunter of Chaos) struggles with crippling light instability and must step into Azaroth's role. Driven by the mantra, "I must be his anchor now" Aries forms an unprecedented Chaos Crew: Eris Morn (to map the Darkness/Void entry), Mara Sov (to tether their minds), and the newly resurrected, still self-interested Savathûn (who understands the Witness's lies). Aries and Savathûn project their consciousness into the Void. Aries successfully tracks Azaroth's residual chaotic light to the final psychological trap, where the Witness projects a Phantom Warlock-a flawless, stable Azaroth who rejects Aries for his lack of discipline. In the climax, Savathûn attempts to use the moment to tempt Aries toward permanent, ultimate chaos, but Aries rejects both extremes. He uses the lessons of control Azaroth taught him to find the single unstable variable in the Witness's perfect illusion. He projects a powerful emotional resonance of their shared, messy life, forcing Azaroth to remember that love is not a logical equation. The fusion of Aries' disciplined chaos and Azaroth's receptive control shatters the Witness's hold. Azaroth is rescued, but the experience leaves both Guardians profoundly changed, with their roles permanently destabilized.

Finally he takes her to where she is supposed to be and makes her swear to secrecy. After coming back from New York he has another mission and when beating a man for answers he finds out that the man is the girls father. Bayliy is going to an Art School in New York. She has a ride or die family with 3 other siblings, loving parents and the coolest uncle on the planet. What will happen when she is given a locket by her father, kidnapped and in love with her kidnapper all in the same day? But she also finds out that her dad's past deeds come back to haunt and hunt them and she is the main person it comes after.

For all of his successes, all it took was a single, catastrophic failure to drown in the Deep. Rhulk knew this all too well, having held thousands of worlds beneath the waves of the Witness's desire for the Final Shape. So when a fireteam of six Guardians came in and did to him what he had done to so many before, he welcomed it. What he didn't expect was for the Gardener and the Winnower to interrupt him on his way out with a new role for him to play. One of a pruner, cutting from the Garden a parasite threatening to take everything from it. Ships are unlikely, but we'll see where it goes.
