This group probably shouldn't be in a small room together, so why in the world are they? Don't ask me, science, maybe? Let's go with that. "The Study" Is my introduction to all of my characters from my story "Thin Walls." I have not posted the story, but, if this goes well, i may launch a series of short stories featuring the "Thin Walls" characters. Please ask any questions you want to the characters and I can include them in "The Study." -Tobin

"Clap... clap... clap." Every midnight, Neil Natwarlal Shah hears the same rhythmic, sarcastic applause through his paper-thin NYC walls. He's convinced it's Tuesday night sex. He's convinced his neighbor is a ghost. He's mostly convinced he needs better earplugs. Then he meets Tisha Kaur Valia in the elevator-IIT grad, Goldman Sachs shark, and the woman responsible for his sleep deprivation. The walls are thin, but their hearts might just be thicker. A story about wine, Oreos, and the noise that happens when two people finally stop listening through the wall and start knocking on the door.

Annabelle Hankins didn't really have a normal life. She was a smart girl with an even smarter mouth, with a crazy group of friends and parents that liked work more than their own daughter. Her life got even weirder when she turned 18. Her parents bought her a small apartment when they had to move for work and she wanted to stay . On top of that her next door neighbor was her high school's very own bad boy. Kade Leonetti wasn't normal either. Everyone knew him as the mysterious bad boy of Addison Hollows High school. Nobody knew much about him and everyone thought that he was a lone wolf with no friends. He was the complete definition to the word bad-boy with his motorbike, leather jacket and no girlfriends policy. And that made all the girls except for one, want him more. And that one girl was his new neighbor. They both wanted to avoid each other, but with only a thin wall between them one little mistake spiraled out of control. But does it turn out to be a mistake after all?

"How could you do this to me? I love you!" Brooklyn yelled at the wall. "You started this and now I'm broken. Greg, that I could have easily gotten past, but this you breaking me, that I can't stand. I'll survive, but I'll be broken and dead inside. It will be all your fault." It broke Daniel to have to hear her yell at him. He sat against the wall on the verge of tears, something he promised he would never do. He heard everything. Everything. That was simply because the wall between their apartments were so thin. Neither understood the power of thin walls and the person that calls to your soul whether you know it or not.

They're just roommates... Or at least, that's what they tell themselves. She has her friends. He has his parties. They pass each other in the kitchen, exchange casual words, and pretend nothing matters. But thin walls carry more than just sound. A laugh. A glance. A silence that lingers too long. And suddenly, the line between "just roommates" and something more isn't so clear anymore. Two hearts, one apartment, and a year of unspoken tension. Who will be the first to break the rules they've written for themselves?
