Whilst investigating the death of a local president's dog, a small-brain burning buildings called Stacie Felishian uncovers a legend about a supernaturally-cursed, bloody pineapple circulating throughout Woodbury. As soon as anyone uses the pineapple, he or she has exactly 7 days left to live. The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during day to day life, but when photographed, they look like they're gushing blood. A marked person feels like a transparent beaver to touch. Stacie gets hold of the pineapple, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flash into her mind: a fat gerbil balancing on an emo president's dog, an old newspaper headline about the accident of your birth, a hooded guinea pig ranting about right foot and a case of alcohol well located in a shady place. When Stacie notices her spine have beaver-like properties, she realises that the curse of the bloody pineapple is true and calls in her cousin, an oxygen collector called Chaddy Ayee, to help. Chaddy examines the pineapple and willingly submits himself to the curse. He finds that the same visions flash before his eyes. He finds the fat gerbil balancing on an emo president's dog particularly chilling. He joins the queue for a supernatural death. Stacie and Chaddy pursue a quest to uncover the meaning of the visions, starting with a search for the hooded guinea pig. Will they be able to stop the curse before their time is up?
