Maya Sander breaths horses, and has been riding since she was 3 years old. At 16 years old, she rides at Cedar Field Stables and teaches lessons and trains horses. Maya is one of the most advanced riders at her barn, and has always wanted a horse to call her own. She finally gets the chance to buy her own horse, and decides to take that opportunity with her to a kill pen. Although she may see many horses she finds cute, she won't decide until she reaches the last horse, and maybe that last horse will be the one for her.

Clara Williams has natural talent, and everyone knows it. Well, everyone but her. She's spent practically her whole life as an equestrian, she loves the horses, the people, and the atmosphere of the sport. She's humble too, which is rare in most people who have her talent. Between all of her wins, Clara is becoming well known in the horse world. She's practically perfect, she just doesn't realize it. "I am nothing special. When Veronica Chance buried her young husband in Kentucky near the racetrack he loved, she moved to Chicago to start over. She landed a dream job as a teen librarian, and then to top it off, she met Shaun Hailey, a man as opposite her husband as black is to white. She hadn't imagined that her life would ever be this happy again. Shaun Hailey thought he'd hit the Powerball when he met Veronica Chance. Lakeview in Chicago was a world away from the South Side, but it took Shaun no time to get used to life with Veronica. Easy and fun, no stress with an intelligent and passionate--and loving--woman. But before Sean can remind himself that no one ever wins the lottery, he's heading for a half-empty race track looking for Veronica's dead husband. Who might not be so dead after all.

This is one of the pieces I wrote for the wonderful writing group, the Inkslingers in May 2019. Richard the horse was an enormous chestnut hunter with four white socks and a white "wonky" blaze. He was an Irish draught crossed with a thoroughbred. He could go like the wind and jump anything in his path. He was a gentleman in all ways except one - he had no brakes. He died at the grand old age of 27 in 2005 and was cremated. His ashes are on Dunnet Head, the most northerly point of the UK mainland. I still have a cushion with his hair in it, embroidered by a friend.

Gina has a huge ranch, but doesn't have a horse.. boarders come and go and that was the way of her life. Noticing the horses she rides for lessons getting old it starts to get harder for lessons. Starting to worry Gina's kind mother considers her wish around Christmas.. WIll Gina have a surprise of a lifetime.. or will she be dreaming?

No one knew what to do with the colt. He was unpredictable. Dangerous. A coursing speed rippled through him, but something menacing came with. He was a wounded sailer in a sea of yearning, and no one wanted to swim to save him. She thought herself the same way. Different. A force to be reckoned with. A tornado- she came without warning and demolished without regard for whom she touched and whom she saved. But everyone else saw a damaged soul, a locked chest with a thrown away key. When Kalep gets a letter indicating that he needs to participate in a deadly race through the Appal mountian range, everything in Lexin's life goes a-wall. This is until, she gets the same letter herself. Only one can win- and those who don't will be sent to Government Housing, everything taken away. Things take a twisted, bloody turn for the worse when everything goes wrong. What is the Appal-Foot race? Those who are not able to pay monthly living taxes are sent a notification letter indicating that they must come up with enough money to pay their unpaid taxes, as well as a year's ahead of time (Which is virtually impossible), or race in the Appal-Foot. The Race, usually lasting around a week, is either on horseback or on foot, and you must survive until you can travel the mileage and win the race. Problem is, in the race, anything can happen. People will do anything to win, including taking the lives of others, stealing horses, and cheating. Many people just die out of lack of knowledge of how to care for themselves. Either way, the mountains and cliffs are dotted with the bodies of desperate horses and riders, all in it for one purpose-just to keep their life rolling on track.

Shortly after, by chance, she finds herself at Fire Forest Stables, where she takes up the job as an exercise rider. Then, a chance of a lifetime comes up. The chance to travel around North America, stopping at each rodeo and competing. Eager for adventure, she packs off with her new friends on the journey. Will Blaire ever remember how much fun riding used to be?

A little memoir of how I went from being a volunteer at a riding to a stable hand at a racing stables, to then going to be a stable hand at a training, and competing stable that also manages a stud only to find myself on a little property in NSW. Getting to do a lot of new things I never thought I would do. I learned so much to do with horses, done so much and have worked many incredible horses and people. So follow my story, through ups and downs and through the Covid pandemic.

Short story for English class. This is completely fictional and a product of my imagination. ---- Follow the story of a two years aged Thoroughbred racehorse as he makes his comeback race after an injury.

Nicholas. Son of a wealthy racehorse breeder, a breeder who's fortune is slowly dwindling away. He's a son who will do anything to help his family. Even if that means marrying a woman he never has and never will love. Anna. A stable girl for a well established racing family. A girl who works herself into the ground to help put a roof over her family's head. Long hours, heavy winters and a stressed boss are making her job harder and harder. When these two desperate souls stumble across each other out side of the work place, it's not long before they are acquainted properly. Before either of them can catch up with their newfound bond, both Nick and Anna are running toward to one another more and more frequently, desperately seeking the solace they find within the other. In sprinting towards his new found peace of mind, Nick finds himself struggling to support his new and unhappy marriage, even though it's the marriage keeping his family afloat. Anna knows that if she's caught anywhere near Nick, her job will be put on the line and it's a job she literally can't afford to lose. As the condemned pair are faced with the challenging hurdles of family loyalty, unrequited love and forbidden desire, choices must be made. Without a clear finish line ahead and high odds against them, will the duo decide fighting for what they want is worth it, or will they hand over their own happiness for those held dearest to them?

Truth

To many, things like dimes and pennies were seemingly worthless. They were often cast to the side, on sidewalks or in charity cups. They were walked past every second of every day, not even warranting the right to catch someone's eye. But to some, they might as well be worth a whole world. To Stephanie Way's father, he built his life up from the same ground that pennies fell to. He was made to crack the concrete with his roots and grow. When her father passed away, Stephanie Way was left with his life's work - Poet's Way. She now has to reverse her way of life once again, to make sure her father's work was not done in vain. Janus, Remus, and Virgil all come from different backgrounds and are different breeds, none belonging in the wilderness. But despite their differences in breeds and former living situations they formed a band and happily lived together in the Montana mountains. But it's seems their happy little family is going to be torn apart, and nothing can stop it. Descriptions will be in the story.
