Ithilwen did not return with the woodland army. Instead she waited until Dis came to the Mountain. After Dis learned of her sons fate. She kneeled before Ithilwen and thanked her for protecting them. Dain gave her the White Gems of Lasgalan, saying that she deserved it. As well as Dis' persuasion. Bidding farewell to the lonely mountain she made her way back home. This is Ithilwens final journey and Thranduil' final chance for redemption with his daughter. Though will his overprotectiveness really be gone with in a month who knows it may take longer than a month.

Ithilwen continues her journey, she leads the dwarfs into Mirkwood were she loses them and they stray from the path. She finds them but she also finds her brother. The guards that are with him see her and chase after her. Eventually they do capture her and force her to kneel before him.
