After she meets a mysterious boy in the marketplace (and having a wild adventure involving a few too many palace guards), Ali is given a choice by the Sultan's Grand Vizier: help him rob a tomb that has been sealed for over ten thousand years, or rot in the palace dungeons.

Abel is a daydreamer. Things that will never happen, the impossible, are planned neatly in his head, while the possible is left up to chance. The table held a miscellany of oddities. Dave looked about, taking in the restaurant. The opposite box was occupied by a pretty blonde, rubbing away at an old kettle with all her might. Dave saw a good-looking man approach her table. He wore a red vest, blue baggy pants and curled-toe yellow slippers. A white turban sat on his head. The young woman abandoned polishing the vessel as soon as the man appeared at her table.
