~*SUMMARY*~ **CASE FILE: CHIVIYO** _1999 (Zumba's Darkest Night)_ A chilling ritual unfolded under starless skies: * I, Ezekiel "Zeke" Nkomo, was dragged into a nightmare * Sangoma's eerie voice whispered: "Usarase mhiko mwangu!" ("You will serve your blood") * A crocodile tooth sealed my fate - a blood oath to mysterious cult Mwazulu **2023 (Harare's Most Baffling Case)** One week of zero leads on the Chiviyo murders had my boss, Dean, breathing down my neck like a vengeful spirit. I sipped lukewarm coffee in our cluttered office, sharing frustrated glances with my partner and best friend, Thabo "The Bull" Mpofu. Suddenly, a symbol on the crime board caught my eye - identical to the Mwazulu mark from my haunted past: ╰╮╰╮╭╮╰╮ My mind reeled: * Was my dark history connected to Chiviyo's gruesome murders? * Could my mother, presumed dead, be tangled in this sinister plot? Just then, my phone buzzed with a chilling message from unknown: "Meet me at old Zumba mill at midnight. Come alone... or die with friends." And the most unsettling part? Our team's tech genius, Maya Ramos - the woman I'm falling dangerously for - just hacked into the cult's system... Revealing my mother ...*ALIVE*...😱

After families begin vanishing from the village, fear spreads faster than answers. With no proof, no witnesses, and nowhere else to turn, the villagers are left with only rumors-whispers of places no one dares to enter. Abandoned houses. Sealed factories. Forgotten fields where people once died and never returned the same. Believing the disappearances are tied to something unnatural, the villagers begin investigating these haunted locations, hoping to find clues, survivors, or at least a reason for what is happening. But the places do not welcome them. Sounds follow where no one stands. Shadows move without light. The air itself feels watchful. Each visit leaves the investigators changed-some shaken, some silent, some unwilling to speak of what they saw. As fear tightens its grip, the line between paranoia and reality begins to blur. The villagers realize the haunted places are not empty-they are aware. And whatever lingers there is slowly guiding them toward a truth far worse than they imagined.

In the city of Veridian, beauty and decay walk hand in hand. Beneath its cathedrals of glass and smoke, the wealthy gather each year for the Grand Masquerade Ball-a night of music, masks, and whispered sins. But this year, the celebration turns to horror when a nobleman is found dead beneath the rose window, a red rose through his throat and a gold mask upon his face. Disgraced detective Calder Reeve and his sister Isla, a rising star in Veridian's police ranks, are drawn into the investigation. The deeper they dig, the more the murders seem less like crimes and more like ceremonies. Each victim is marked with strange symbols tied to a secret society thought long dead-The Veiled Choir, whose rituals once promised eternal life through sacrifice. As the Reeves race to stop the killings, they uncover threads connecting the victims to the cathedral's past-and to their own family. Every new death follows a verse from a centuries-old prophecy, foretelling the return of a figure known only as The Silent Saint. But when the evidence begins to point toward Isla herself, the case fractures the bond between brother and sister. In a city where everyone hides behind a mask, the most devastating truth waits closest to home. The murderer's identity shatters everything Calder believes-and forces him to choose between justice, blood, and survival. When the last rose falls, Veridian will never be the same.

Reviewed by Ruth Castleberry for Readers' Favorite Wow. What a ride! Incognito by Khaled Talib starts off with a passage describing where the kidnapped Pope is being held prisoner. And then it takes off, following three individuals - Ayden, Guy and Isabelle - as they try to find the Pope. The three are members of the League of Invisible Knights, a secret organization created "to bring about the triumph of good over evil." Pursuing clues, this team is subjected to various attempts to thwart their progress, including ambushes to slow them down or kill them, kidnappings, and attempts to frame them for various crimes. In the end, the trio is being pursued by police, the media and the evildoers. Their adventure truly reads like watching an unrelenting action film. I can't remember a novel that created the sensation that I was in the middle of a thrilling chase using only words. Yes, Mr. Talib certainly knows how to wield his words. His descriptions of action-oriented encounters are tightly written and very vivid. He gives his primary characters depth and flaws, making them believable within the context of this adventure. Not only that, his story is both topical and edgy. Religious and political elements are both critical to the plot, and the author establishes realistic context and background as he incorporates the appropriate influences of both into his story. The balance between dialogue and narration is very good. Obviously, the pace is brisk, I might even say breakneck in some places. Khaled Talib's Incognito is a hard book to put down.

And it wants Emily to find the quilt before it's too late. Since its establishment in 1949, the Israeli Mossad has astonished the world with daring operations that often seemed impossible, carried out across the globe. Now, for the first time, some of the secrets behind these covert missions are revealed in a fast-paced, suspense-filled espionage novel. Cassandra's Shadow blends fact and fiction, guiding the reader deep into the closed world of Israeli intelligence: from dramatic missions across European cities, through the streets of Tehran, beneath the sea aboard stealth submarines, and into Iran's secret nuclear facilities. These episodes, inspired by real operations, expose the methods, risks, and personal sacrifices of one of the world's most advanced and daring intelligence agencies. Written in cinematic prose and driven by high tension, Cassandra's Shadow is far more than a spy novel-it is a riveting journey into the shadows of global espionage, based on true events that shaped modern history.
