Axel Gunner was transmigrated into the skrill into HTTYD, and found out that the skrill was his past life. He was a commander of the god of thunder, fighting against them all, and in the last battle of Ragnarok, he died by drowning. Thor during his last dying breath, flooded the drowning warriors with his divinity, reviving them as the first dragons, skrills. Part of Axel's soul was in the skrill but 99 percent of it was in another world where Norse mythology still existed in myths. After dying a warriors death, saving a young girl from being stabbed by some psychotic person. Thor's existing divinity, transmigrated him back to his soul just as his skrill body was going to die. He survived due to the lightning bolt, striking him and freeing him. Axel was determined to worship Thor, making sure his divinity will ever live, and save the dragons of the world, descendants of his fallen comrades. Across the archipelago, dragon attacks mercilessly pound the Berkians, destroying their soil and any chance for surviving the winter. With no other options, Stoick leads and expedition to find the legendary 'Dragon Master' in hopes he can help defeat their enemy. Arriving at the island however, they quickly learn that the survival of Berk barely crosses the peoples' minds as they continue to fight their own losing battle against an enemy that could destroy the entire realm. For the sake of their people, Hiccup crosses the barrier that separates the mortal and magical realm and is shocked to find the family secrets that had been frozen in time.
