The world does not end all at once. It begins with rings.
Across the trade city of Scornubel, five lives are quietly interrupted-drawn mid-moment from rooftops, infirmaries, parks, and practice yards by the same impossible pull. Each bears a different weight: a ranger chasing approval long lost, a warlock flirting with cosmic powers, a druid listening too closely to the bones of the earth, a healer shaped by stone and duty. None of them agree to be chosen. None of them are given the chance to refuse.
They awaken together upon floating obsidian, suspended inside the impossible architecture of the Aetherreach Citadel-a place older than empires, cracked by neglect, and humming with unfinished purpose. There they meet Albedo, caretaker, architect, and something far stranger than he lets on. With polite indifference and alarming confidence, he delivers the truth plainly:
Dragons are rising. The continent is already burning. And these five are now bound-by ancient draconic rings-to stop it.
