All he wanted in the world was to be married to Emma Carstairs. But no. They were Shadowhunters. There were rules that they had to follow. So Julian was forever broken, and the one person who could fix him was the one he couldn't have.

**LADY MIDNIGHT SPOILERS IN DESCRIPTION** "Why lie?" It is two weeks since Emma told Julian that she could never be with him. Emma and Mark's relationship is apparently blooming, which is destroying Julian. Meanwhile at the LA Institute, an unexpected visitor arrives, bringing bad news that will disturb and intervene with the lives of each shadowhunter. Who is it, and what news do they bring? This story is an alternative to Lord of Shadows.
