In honor of the mountain of paperwork she has to trudge through over the next few weeks, Tierra had a free pass on the winter's monster hunting and a much-needed vacation with her best friend, Carmen. But when an accident sidelines Tierra's parents and a determined Aegis shows up on Tierra's doorstep, her plans for relaxation are shattered. When Tierra and Carmen are swept up in an uncertain ritual, they're trapped in a mysterious land and two of the worst things for an Aegis to be: unprepared and untrained. Not only does she have to worry about shielding Carmen from the more extraordinary aspects of life as an Aegis, but she has to figure out how to get back.
