Other entities inhabit the hotel however, and while you never had much going on in life, the entities find you alluring. Instead of wanting to kill you, they want to date you! Will you escape the hotel, or will an entity steal your heart? Kay was a cheerful person, but she was also secretive. She used to trust and work out for others, but when something happened, her life changed.

The apartment was quiet. Too quiet. Tim Bradford leaned against the doorway, hoodie half-on, gun belt still strapped from a shift that shouldn't have ended so violently. Lucy Chen's eyes didn't meet his. She stared at the coffee mugs, two of them going cold - reminders that they were supposed to be together, but maybe still too broken to know how. "Are you really okay?" she asked, her voice tighter than she intended. He smirked, but it didn't reach his eyes. "I survive." She didn't laugh. "I want more than surviving, Tim. I want... us." The silence stretched between them, but neither of them moved. They had loved, lost, and somehow found each other again. And now, the city needed them undercover as a fake engaged couple - a role that would force every truth, every hidden feeling, every old wound to the surface. Pretending wasn't the hard part. Not with him. It was keeping herself from falling in love all over again.

Short story based off of the area of the 1960s. 50 year old Abbe is stuck in Jacksonville when there are racist everywhere, but 17 year old Timothy is about to be one of the 1st to graduate and help his mom to get a new life.

But with trials popping up everywhere: her big brother, Jason's, best friend paying more attention to Anna than usual; her best friend disappearing and not contacting Anna for months; confusing feelings for her arrogant and annoying math tutor, Bentley; and let's not forget about her new step-mom trying to become Anna's new best friend. Anna wonders if she'll ever get past this time in her life without going crazy in the process.
