Everything was fine in the beginningg. Life was simple, just trying to survive. My parents and brothers were killed in front of me. It was just me and my brother, Noah now. Later on we met Joel, a smuggler tasked with escorting a teenage girl, Ellie, across a post-apocalyptic United States. We stayed by his side at all times. Read how Laylani and her brother defend themselves against hostile humans and cannibalistic creatures infected by a mutated strain of the cordyceps fungus. Their journey takes off when they find Joel and Ellie and later on the one and only Billie Eilish.

Shortly after the last book ends, Conner returns to the Otherworld and Alex stays in the Land of Stories. Well, until they see birds that seem although they are coming out of thin air.
