There are guardians even in Middle-earth, though no song or scroll names them. The Hanu (Han- new) walk unseen - keepers of chaos and order, bound by oaths older than the Valar themselves. Their shield is secrecy; their duty, eternal. Few know their presence. Fewer still understand their burden. As the Fellowship gathers and the Shadow grows, another story moves quietly alongside. The Guardian of Balance does not stand in councils nor lead in battle - but walks the spaces in between, where choice and consequence bend unseen. This is a tale of parallel paths: a hidden watcher bound to Middle-earth, whose silent influence brushes against the great journey, though her name will never be written in the Red Book. 📌 A crossover of Tolkien's legendarium and the Hanu Chronicles - not a retelling, but a parallel myth, unfolding in the quiet between great deeds.

"Do you fear me? The monster I've become?" "Never." "Your eyes betray you, elf-boy." <><><><>Legolas x OC x Aragorn<><><><> A vengeful war is about to engulf Middle Earth, and a group must come forward willing to venture into Mordor to destroy the One Ring. But for the Fae of Middle Earth, dark and light alike, a more pressing matter is at hand; the Uruk-Hai war that is sweeping its way through their kingdoms. Elena, princess of the light Fae kingdom of Aerith, can do nothing but watch as the world around falls into madness. Without another option available, Elena must travel to one of the light Faes' closest allies, Rivendell, to seek help, where she is caught up in perhaps one of the most perilous quests imaginable. Unbeknownst to her, however, she is directly related to a powerful prophecy that will see itself fulfilled on the eve of her 22nd birthday. One that will tip the scales of the war. But to whose favour is a question whose answer will be determined by the resolve deep within Elena. Note: A new race has been added to Middle Earth, whose origins you can read about in the Exposition. It is not necessary to read it, but if you wish to gain a better understanding of Elena's race, then it is recommended.

In her voice, the stones hummed with a strength not heard in an age. Her feet found paths no map had marked. Her laughter stirred echoes in crystal halls and in her silence, mountains seemed to hold their breath. She was born beneath the light of a dying star, the mountain's breath warm against her cheek, her mother's song a lullaby in a language now forgotten by men. And though she was only a child, the earth already knew her name For the world would turn, and fire would rise. And in the shadow of dragons, amid the stirrings of ancient evil, the voice of the stones would be heard again.

'When Gandalf the Grey tracked him down in a pub, yammering on about destiny and reclaiming homelands and redemption and adventures, Ira had been all for it. He loved his boat and his crew and his life at sea, but he desperately needed a change of scenery. So of course he leapt at the opportunity to join a company and go exploring, much to the wizards (private) relief. He did not, however, sign up to babysit 13 idiot dwarves who shared a death wish and 1 burglar hobbit who was so far out of his depth he might as well have been in space, who were all trotting merrily along to their ultimate demise. Blimey, he needed some rum.'

Thankfully, her job doesn't consist of much of actually interacting with said dwarves - she just needs to ward off the occasional orc or goblin, oh, and also the teeny-tiny problem of killing a 𝘥𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘰𝘯 at the end of the quest. Bilba has grown up the unwanted granddaughter of the Thain of the Kingdom of Shire but, as she rarely visits the palace, the relationship holds little meaning to her. Instead she focuses on her second year of college, her ballet career and her slowly burgeoning romance with Bofur, a crew member with her ballet company. The same day Bilba is set to preform on stage for the first time with her company, the kingdom of Shire is anticipating another event. That very evening will oversee the political, arranged marriage between Thorin Durin, Crown Prince of Erebor, and an unnamed Princess of Shire (so unnamed because Bilba's grandfather is a paranoid bastard). Bilba doesn't care about any of this, she hasn't been invited and has no interest in other countries, politics or other such machinations. Just before she's set to preform, however, Bilba suddenly finds herself dragged from the theater and taken to appear before her grandfather at the palace. There she is informed she WILL be participating in the wedding after all. As the bride. Whether she likes it or not.

The Fourth Age dawned in peace. But peace is a seed easily withered. Long have the kingdoms of Men prospered beneath the rule of the King Elessar, and in the North, Gerithor, once a ranger and warrior of renown, now serves as Warden, keeping order in a land once scarred by war. Though he trains his children in the ways of leadership and arms, his own days of high adventure seem long behind him. But the East does not sleep. When a cloaked stranger brings word of a rising darkness beyond the lands of Mordor, old fears stir anew. A forgotten threat, older than the crowns of Men, begins to stir-and the burden of defiance falls not to the heroes of old, but to their sons and daughters. Now the Children of the North must rise, for the fate of Middle-earth once more hangs by a thread.

The North has fallen. Mithlond burns. Frodo never returned from Mordor. Now the tide of darkness rises unchecked, sweeping across Middle-earth like a second great shadow. In this alternate retelling of the War of the Ring, the free peoples stand scattered and broken. Glorfindel, once a beacon of light, is taken by Sauron, his fate unknown. Caledorn, a solemn elven warrior, is sent east in search of Rukil, a rebel Easterling warlord who may hold the key to survival. Meanwhile, Gerithor, a seasoned Dúnedain ranger, and the dwarf Kalan brave the storm in the South, seeking to aid Helm's Deep before it is crushed beneath the weight of a united host of Orcs, Corsairs, and traitors. As alliances fray and hope fades, a handful of heroes must rise not to win, but to endure. To buy time. To light a single torch against the night. Because sometimes, the end is not victory. Sometimes, the Last Stand is all that remains. Following the events of Defenders of Middle Earth Part One, this AU details what would have happened if the Fellowship, and Gerithor's company, had failed in their tasks.
