Maddie is magical; as are her parents, Buck however, is not. Well, not that he was born magical. Buck knew his parent's didn't like him; it wasn't much of a problem to him, he was not born with a family, he chose his with his own heart and mind.

If you say a word to Evan, I'll tell him you're in love with him," Tommy hissed, pulling hard on the wheel. Eddie tossed him a harsh glare, making sure his belt was secured and preparing for the crash. "I don't give a fuck, you tell him whatever you want. I'm not letting you cheat on my best friend," he snapped, his hand tightening on the handle. Or, Tommy was taking Eddie on "dates" while dating Buck, and Eddie didn't know until they were 5000 meters in the air in a helicopter. He's not about to betray his best friend like that.
