Marliene "Mari" Moroz is a brilliant young scientist that Reed Richards hired to help send the Fantastic Four to space (before they got their names and powers and all that stuff). The space trip granted her ice powers, quite the opposite to Jonathan "Johnny" Storm's pyrokinesis. They are the only two members of the family that don't get along, for now at least.

Welcome to the world of Shaizi, governed by leylines: an invisible network of veins filled with energy that enriches the lands, cloaking everything in their mystical glow. Long, long ago, a virulent sun ruined the world, quelled only by a great hero, and with the help of the beasts governing the lands, we could only gradually pick up the pieces. But Shaizi is a world trapped in a cycle of violence, of preservation and destruction. Every two-hundred years, the force that once ravaged Shaizi returns, and a new hero rises to save us once again, aiding in our recovery. The question? Who will bear that torch?
