It was cold, too cold to be out with nothing but a T shirt and jeans on. I could no longer feel the tips of my fingers. I'm not sure what I expected on a December night in northern Michigan. But this was beside the point; all I had to worry about doing now was running. I don't think I've ran this fast for this long in my life. As I get deeper into the wooded area the sound of sirens diminishes and the lights are no longer in my view. I must've just ran at least 3 miles by now, but I can't stop now. As I continue running, slowing my speed just a small amount I come to the realization that I'm not going to any set destination. Where am I going? I decide to continue straight into the state forest so I can easily navigate out when the time comes. It's so dark, I can barely see a thing and I keep getting hit in the face with branches. I feel a warm liquid forming on my face, I assume its blood.
