Torrence Wren is an escaped DNA experiment who has been on the run with her makeshift family for fourteen years. 103 children escaped from Facility 16 of the Shifter Academy, and only 34 are left. She has to lay low. Unfortunately, "laying low' isn't exactly in the vocabulary of her best friend, experiment comrade Jay Sparrow, who constantly feels the need to show off his avian DNA. Can Torrence and Jay outrun the Academy agents and survive in a world where their freedom is illegal? Meanwhile, in the sunny state of Florida, Ryker Farrow and his little sister Fenn are dealing with the disintegration of their family. With their father gone and their mother unable to care for them, Ryker takes it upon himself to keep Fenn safe, no matter their cost. And the costs are high for two escaped mammalian experiments on the run. Can the two groups manage to stay alive amidst a disintegrating existence? Or will the Academy reclaim their missing project? Only the Shifters know.

Imagine that your mind became so numb that you cracked and started a revolution of free-thinkers. You stormed through Haven freeing the oppressed citizens, and you were a hero. Until your best friend was shot. Your supporters captured and integrated back into the system. Imagine you went into hiding, and imagine that you were ready for a second fight. Torrence has spent a long time gathering up his strength for a rematch and he is ready for a death match. So, Imagine this...

After the bombing, everything changed. Seven Teens, each with a special gift. Their families were killed, and they were the only ones in their entire town still alive. But what happens next was almost as unbelievable. They were rescued by some interesting people, and taken to a supernatural island, that no mortal had ever seen before. It was filled with creatures unknown to them and abnormal powers. They're told that they have these powers, and must be able to control them. How will they learn to fit in?
