Welcome to modern day Colorado: a place exactly the same as it was in 2017. Yep, absolutely zero change. Oh wait, hold up a minute. I forgot, there are a few differences! For one, there's a new president and for two the new iPhone 11s came out. The exact same iPhone as the 6s yet people are still obsessed with dem hunks of metal.
Enter now the kinda/mostly main character of this book: Emily Baker. She basically has a normal 16 year old life, complete with girl fights and the occasional boyfriend and breakup routine. The only not-so-normal thing Emily has ever had to deal with is her uncanny ability to fly, this only being discovered one day when an amusement park ride takes a turn (quite literally!) for the worst. And that's not all this apparently very unnormal teen has to face, throw in some of her other peers (consisting of the nerd, the jock, the captain of the cheerleading squad, and the social outcast) who have special abilities like Emily's own and BAM! You get an automatic recipe for a superhero squad.
There's just one teensy weensy problemo: they all suck at being superheroes, and when the world needs them most they realize just how sucky they actually are. Join this disastrous group as they struggle through puberty, intergalactic threats that could quite possibly rock their worlds forever, and of course some well needed and inevitable teenage drama. This is high school after all, what can you possibly expect?
