He tells the story from the afterlife, explaining the secrets he kept from Jackson throughout the three years they had been dating, and explains the whole story of how he depicts the afterlife in his afterlife.

(I can't really have a good description of this story without giving away parts of it but I'll do my best.) The most popular guy in school is paired up with the only lesbian in school for a school project. Things are not as they seem, however. Haters will emerge, toleraters will remain indifferent, and unlikely allies will be discovered.
