Everything changed on his 13th birthday, when Peter and Ben went to the park. On the way back, they were mugged and held at gunpoint, and both of them had been shot, Peter in the stomach, Ben multiple times in the chest. Peter is still plagued with memories of that afternoon, and blames himself for his uncle's death because Ben died trying to protect him. Then less than a year later, May got extremely sick which sent the small family into crippling debt from hospital bills. Harvey shallow is a twenty five year old ex criminal trying to start over. Harvey wants a new life plus someone to help him start over. He's also looking for someone to call home but he feels like it's impossible as he's a criminal. When Milo and Harvey meet at Sobey's grocery store their story starts there.
