The cello is something he confides in, something he uses as an escape, a sonata's notes blending into a distracting rhythm and hum in his ears to let him breathe. So when Selena climbs her way to concertmaster during the first week of freshman year and Rhys is placed as the first chair cellist, the two get to know each other well, when said as an understatement. They both heal their wounds and learn together. They learn how to love. And the bond they share becomes more beautiful than what any sound any orchestra could ever create.
