It is the morning of Christmas Day, December 25th, 1914. Young German private Hans Hofmann sits shivering in the cold trench on the French Western Front, miserable, homesick, and afraid. His only comfort is the cold rifle clenched in his hands and his fellow comrades. A bleak, devastated No Man's Land stretches between his German trench line and that of their sworn enemy, the British. At any moment, they could be ordered 'over the top' to in a deadly frontal attack. All seems hopeless this Christmas Day. Then suddenly, somewhere in the dark, cold trench, someone begins singing Silent Night.

Vaguely poem-like, but I've been yelled at for calling it such, so here's some prose.

A war have been ravaging the land for years and a solider empty of life finally feels something for the first time in a long time. Holden had fought in the war since the start, he had seen many of his comrades die and throughout the war, slowly rose in rank. He had given up on everything and waited for death to take him and bring away from fighting in the war, but one day a solider that was like no other gave a stronger meaning to brother in arms. (If anyone wants to give me a cover or ideas for a different title I'm open.)

If you were given an opportunity to become someone stronger, to become faster, to think more quickly and most importantly, to escape the life you have, you would take it. Right? Jewell did. She thought that the stranger who offered her something seemingly out of a comic book would lead her to a better life. And he did. Right?
