A tribute to David Bowie and his wonderful song Space Oddity.

Qui-Gon is my favorite Jedi, so to celebrate May the 4th 2017, I wrote this poem about him.

"The Keeper of the Posh Cabinet" is a rhythmic, heartfelt tribute to Jane Dargue, the Senior Valuer at Barter Books-and a truly wonderful work colleague. Set within the bustling, historic atmosphere of the old Alnwick railway station, the poem steps away from the main tracks to explore the quieter, hidden magic of the shop's famous "posh cabinet". The verses celebrate Jane's expert care and dedication as she guards the shop's rarest and most historic treasures under specially chosen, protective lighting. It highlights the fascinating journey of history through the centuries, specifically nodding to one of the cabinet's greatest real-life marvels: Agostino Ramelli's magnificent 1588 Book of Machines. Ultimately, the poem is a celebration of the preservation of history and a personal thank-you to a brilliant colleague who keeps these ancient stories safe, warm, and alive for generations to come.
