The fog doesn't just hide the town. It hides the screams. Jonathan was the Captain of his life until the world vanished into a wall of white. After a sudden crash on the outskirts of Shadowridge, he wakes to a nightmare of perfect silence. His wife, Abby, is gone. There are no footprints in the snow, no engine sounds in the distance-only the heavy, rhythmic pulsing of a fog that feels alive. Shadowridge isn't a place you visit; it's a place that swallows you. As Jonathan wanders through the skeletal remains of the town, the mist begins to play tricks. Shapes move in the corner of his eye. A silver watch ticks in an empty room. And a house that shouldn't exist stands waiting for him-a house filled with his own darkest secrets and medical files he never should have seen. In the "White Silence," the truth is more dangerous than the dark. Jonathan is about to learn that the fog isn't there to keep him lost... it's there to keep him from seeing what he's become. One town. One survivor. A thousand lies buried in the mist.

Peace was never meant to feel like survival.. When silence was praised, she chose resistance. Some stories do not offer comfort, they ask you to wake up. This is the story of Oishani Koley - a simple girl with quiet dreams. But life has something else planned for her. As she grows, she begins to question patriarchy. She refuses to blindly believe in superstitions. She chooses logic over fear, courage over silence. Yet when life takes an unexpected turn, will she be strong enough to fight it? Since the story is rooted in a Bengali girl's life, there will be some Bengali dialogues, just some.. English translations are added alongside for those dialogues to keep the flow smooth for all readers. Happy Reading!

In the Absence of Answers is a collection written in the quiet spaces between certainty and collapse. These pages are not solutions. They are reflections, maps drawn in the dark, directions taken and regretted, warmth sought and sometimes refused. Each piece walks through doubt, distance, faith, and the fragile act of continuing anyway. If you are looking for clarity, you may not find it here. But you may recognize yourself in the search. S. When the lock down hit Canada, I thought I'd take time to post a poem each day, expecting the "15 days to flatten the curve" to end in, well, 15 days. Silly m e. My aim had been to add something to the social conversation in my little corner of IG (@andrewkooman). To laugh, to yell, to share what I needed to share, but amidst all of the fear and uncertainty, to add some beauty to it too. I loved seeing musicians, local and global, perform concerts and lift spirits in unique ways. So why not do that through writing. 80 days later, I had a compilation of visual poems that captured a sense of life in the pandemic, a collection of thoughts over time . So I thought I'd share that here.

By far the most magnificent mansion on Key Largo was the Windsor-Cromwell Palace, proudly owned by the world-renowned Dr. David Lance Windsor and his equally famous wife, Dr. Juliette Emilia Cromwell-Windsor. On a bright night illuminated by a waxing new moon, in the second week of January, a strange visitor in an ambulance arrived at the grand, secluded mansion. The patient was a very young lady: unconscious, with a low heart rate and a dangerously unsteady pulse. Her once-beautiful skin and hair was badly burned. Her body was bruised and bloody, cut in numerous places by glass shards, the most significant of which was a rather large piece wrapped in bloodied gauze around her leg. The young medical student standing next to the stretcher had a pleading and confused expression on his grave face. When prompted by Dr. Windsor for information pertaining to the patient's history, he remained uncharacteristically tight-lipped. As the Windsors rushed her and the frightened young man into the opulent and fully equipped mansion that doubled as a private hospital ward, one question floated through David's mind: "Why did he bring her here under such suspicious circumstances?" Most importantly, David asked himself "Who is this young lady, and what happened to her?" © 2021 Kitana Petersen All rights reserved.

AFRICAN BURDEN by the voice of the soul. They came in ships, cloaked in crosses and crowns, Not to pray with us, but to prey on us. Not to teach us Truth, But to tear it from our Tongues. Chains kissed our wrists like venomous lovers. They ripped our fathers, beat drums out of our mother's breast, and called it Civilization. We bled gold into their coffers. Our diamonds crowned their queens, Our cocoa sweetens their tea, And still they called us Savages. They took our children, not just from wombs But from wisdom - Cut the roots of our languages, burned the libraries in our stories, Then asked why we were silent. In Ghana, in Congo, on plantations from Mississippi to Mauritius, We did not break We bent. Bent under bullets, bent under boots, bent under borders we never Drew, but carry on. They mapped our land, not to understand, But to mine it, divide it, devour it. But listen - Our rivers still run with memory. Our mountains whisper names They tried to erase. Africa is not a wound. She is a warrior. And though her back is burdened, Her spine still sings. We carry Pain, yes. But we carry drums too. Songs still echo in our scars, And our tears water the roots of the generation unbroken.
