Jess is someone that you dont want to mess with. Seriously. Sure she probably is the nicest person alive, but you cant say the same thing about her family. Her family being the most ruthless and savage people in possibly the state! Secrets upon secrets run throughout the family, lies built upon lies. Jess being cocooned from all of these has no idea of what is going on. Other than being dictated by her family all her life, she knows of nothing else but of what they allow her to know. Sweet, innocent Jess is too fragile for her parents world. But once a certain someone makes himself known to her, all the cocooning her parents planned was all a waste.
